Yesterday, July 16th training for the Amsterdam 1/2 Marathon began... I signed up for the event and registered for a 10 min per mile time. We'll see if that's reasonable over the next few months.
In Amsterdam, it currently feels like we're in the middle of the biblical story about Noah's Arc... it's been down pouring for over two weeks straight. The weather will clear up for a few hours and then the sky will open up again. It's also around 60 degrees... not sure they understand that it's supposed to be summer here!
From about 3pm on yesterday it was raining with the intent to drown everything, but day one of my schedule said 30 minutes of running. Since I don't belong to the gym here, I decided to just wear my rain jacket and run around the outside of the park I normally run in (as good portions of the park resembled a lake). It turned out to be not so bad (soggy and cold) though I was running an avg 11:51 minute mile... eep! Yes, I'm crazy slow, but have to start somewhere!
Tonight = cross-training!
Stay dry,
Liz
